Springing Forth

“Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old. Behold I will do a new thing: now it shall spring forth: shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.” Isaiah 43:18-19 The Holy Bible (KJV) Placed by the Gideon’s.

For the first time, I am pushing bulbs, paperwhites to be exact. As I took them out of their bulb bag, I noticed there were conjoined twin bulbs, two bulbs of the same size connected, which I left together. There was also a smaller bulb attached to a bigger bulb which I separated to allow the little one more freedom to grow. As I look at the prehistoric looking bulbs which appear dead as dead can be, brown and dried, once I placed them in the water, it didn’t take long (2 days) and a white shoot appeared to poke upward and out. This forced bulb situation is such a startling representation of our new, born again, life in Christ. We start out gnarly, dead in sin, hard, and unpliable. Once we give our lives to Christ, He begins to make us new. As our roots soak up the Living Water of His Word, the new creation springs forth, and how beautiful it is to behold. What appeared to be dead and lifeless has new life!

While some people will continue to look at the root ball of your past and neglect to see the initial white shoot, you continue to thrive and flourish. It is likely those people are not born again, and have yet to dip their root ball in the Living Water, the gospel, the truth of Jesus Christ, to experience newness of life. I also want to encourage those who are new in their walk with Christ, to keep their eyes on the new things the Lord is bringing forth. I admit I was stuck examining my own root ball for many years, and I thank God for every person who pointed me to look at the new green shoots. Now I hardly look at the old root ball. Sure some things prompt me to remember and in the brief remembrance I want to jump and shout Halleluiah, because I know without a shadow of a doubt, only the Lord could bring me through all that He did. It is sherry a miracle anything new could be made from the wreckage of my past. He can, will, or already is doing the same for you. Let us rejoice and say Thank You Lord Almighty!!

Please feel free to share a new thing you notice the Lord is doing in your life. Remember we “…overcome by the Blood of the Lamb and by the word of (our) their testimony.” (Parenthesis mine) Revelation 12:11 (KJV) The Holy Bible

Lately, I have been remembering where I was three years ago, inside a prison, after I just had my first daughter. It was miserable and the worst point in my life. I wanted to be a mom and asked God for that.. my prayer was answered.. Now I have raised my beautiful little girl, as well as her half brother and sister, for 2 1/2 years. Even the challenges are wonderful to me, and my experience in prison made me appreciate life so much more today.. Even when I have three kids arguing and yelling “Mom!” I can find the beauty, since I wouldn’t be able to hear that in prison. God gave me these kids for a reason and they help me everyday to be a better person.
